Spice Organizer

A modern kitchen needs good storage and organizers. One of the most commonly used kitchen items is our spices but these are mostly poorly organized, resulting in a waste of space as well as time in searching for them. I was determined to better organize my spices for this coming Christmas which resulted in the search for the best spice organizer and spice racks. It is good that I spend so much time search for them as the one I bought is just perfect! If you want to know what is my experience in using the Olde Thompson spice rack, read on to find out.

I bought the Olde Thompson spice organizer 2 weeks ago but already have used it. Let me tell you that my kitchen looks so organized, especially the counter tops where most of my spice bottles used to be placed. Here is what I really like about this stainless steel spice organizer:

• Minimal space usage but maximum storage:  Due to its vertical design, it doesn’t occupy too much space when placed on the kitchen counter top. Compared to the past where all my spice bottle were scattered across the table, this is definitely the major reason why I am so happy with buying this spice rack organizer.

• Stable: One danger that I read about for other brands is that the spice organizer might get knocked which will be a major kitchen disaster. Imagine all the cleaning up you need to do! Hence, I look for stability in my spice organzier.  The Olde Thompson spice rack thankfully is heavy and stable that it can’t get knock over easily.

• Labeled jars: This is both a plus and minus point for me. While the label are very convenient and allows me to get what I want easily, the fact that the label cannot be changed meant that there will always be spices that are not covered by the label names. In such cases, you still need to find a way to identity the spices. I did it by using the handy post it notes and wrap that around the bottle : )

• 2 lids: Each spice jar comes with two lids: one for pouring and one for sprinkling. I absolutely loved this feature as it saves me lots of time during when I am cooking!

• Beautiful design: I know this is not as important as its functionality but really, the stainless steel design makes this spice organizer a beauty. When placed in my modern kitchen, it doesn’t look out of place.

So overall, I am quite happy with my purchase. One of the funny thing is that it actually comes with spices inside the spice jars! Although you might not use all of them, it is a nice gesture on the part of the manufacturer. However, there are some downsides that you need to consider if you also want to buy this spice organizer after reading my review:

• Labels cannot be changed: This is my major complaint and also of others who have given this product a 1 or 2 star review at Amazon. It is not a deal breaker but it will be nice to be able to change the name of the spice so that it is more flexible.

• Price: It is about 10 dollars more expensive than other old fashion spice organizers. Having said that, I actually don’t mind paying the extra for the benefits that I have listed above.
